FAQ & Location

Wondering what to expect or how to get here?

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the tour and what does it entail?

Self-guided tours have no time limit, you are free to wander the grounds and exhibition spaces at your leisure.

Guided tower tour slots are 15 mins duration, with no time limit on self-guided elements.

Group tours which include the full guided tour experience last around 45 mins depending on group size, and again, visitors can explore the grounds at their leisure.

What age must my child be to climb the tower?

Access to the tower depends on height, not age. Children must be a minimum of 1.2m height to climb the tower.

What if we have a child with us who is too small to go to the tower?

If your child is too small to go up the tower, parents/guardians can take it in turns to go up the tower while the other stays with the child. If there is only one adult in the group, they will be unable to go up the tower.

Can everyone access the lighthouse?

The lighthouse is an old and quirky building and there are issues with accessibility. We do have a wheelchair ramp into the lighthouse but only those who can climb the tower can access this part of the building.

While we do everything possible to accommodate everyone, if you have specific requirements please speak to us before you book accommodation or a tour.  Please contact info@fanadlighthouse.com or phone +383 8091199 to discuss your booking and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

What facilities are there on site?

Toilets are available at the visitor centre before the lighthouse, including an accessible toilet. There is also free car parking at the visitor centre. There is a coffee shop offering light refreshments and a craft shop.
